Meet Goat! Goat is a gentle boy weighing in at about 70lbs. He looks like a cross between a Grate Dane and another large breed. He’s tall with long legs and a beautiful head with a big unusual bump making him look like a goat or as the vet tech said a bull frog ~ The vet thinks he was either born with this deformity or as a young pup was injured there - he’s in no pain and is in perfect health. He is easy going and loves to be pet and hugged and is big enough to handle a lot of hugs! He is about 3-4 years old. Goat does great with other dogs, kids and cats. He is a very well-mannered boy with great leash skills, he sticks by you and is not a wanderer. He is potty trained, loves his belly pet, loves to give kisses, sleeps through the night, is calm and LOVES his crate. He is also learning that he loves toys! Things he needs to work on and is learning fast – not jumping up to give human like hugs and sharing his food with other dogs. Goat is very excited to find his forever family that he can kiss and hug all day! Goat was rescued from Guadalajara, Mexico. Will you be his hero?
steps to adopting
The first step to adopting a dog from SDH is to complete the adoption application. The application takes a few days to be approved. Once completed and approved it is good for all dogs and saved for future use.
To finalize an adoption you must complete the contract and pay an adoption fee of $300. The adoption fee helps cover our costs. On average, per dog, it costs between $300-$700 for vetting, transport, sterilization and more. All dogs are rescued and do not transport to SDH until they are healthy and ready to be adopted. All dogs are vetted before they fly, given standard vaccines and rabies, dewormed, given flea/tick treatments and tested for heart worm. Most dogs are sterilized before they fly, however if this is not the case we will spay/neuter them once they arrive at our cost.
Upon arrival all dogs are seen for a wellness exam and parasite screening. Any treatment necessary is at our expense.
